The Jos electricity distribution company of Nigeria (JED) is said to have laid off about 50% of its staff.
According to information received the affected staff were sent an sms notification, which notified them of a meeting to be held by 4 p.m On friday 13th october 2017 and as the staff gathered for their meeting they were handed over letters of termination by the organisation. About 50% of the staff were affected by this sack.
And this is after they had been paid their salaries with several deductions.
The management of the organisation declined to give any explanation.
