Role Summary

The successful applicant will support the delivery of maritime education programs, assist senior academic staff, and contribute to student development through effective teaching and mentorship. This opportunity is well suited for candidates beginning their academic careers while possessing substantial maritime industry experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing, delivering, and evaluating maritime training programs and academic courses.
  • Develop instructional materials and course content under the supervision of senior faculty members.
  • Conduct lectures, tutorials, presentations, and practical sessions covering maritime-related disciplines.
  • Support student learning through academic guidance and mentorship.
  • Participate in coursework assessment, examinations, and grading activities.
  • Contribute to curriculum enhancement and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Attend departmental meetings and professional development programs.
  • Stay informed about current maritime regulations, industry developments, and best practices.
  • Engage in research activities and pursue further professional or academic qualifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or a related discipline.
  • A Master’s Degree is an added advantage or should currently be in progress.
  • Minimum of five years of seagoing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of international maritime conventions and regulations, including STCW requirements.
  • Administration-approved Train the Trainer and/or Train the Simulator Trainer certification.
  • Professional certification as Master (F.G.) or Marine Engineer Officer Class I Certificate of Competency from a recognized flag administration.
  • Previous service in a management-level position such as Chief Officer or Second Engineer Officer.
  • Teaching, coaching, or training experience will be considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and learning methodologies is desirable.
