Job Overview
The Chief Engineer will oversee all engineering and maintenance functions within the hotel. This includes the management of building systems, plant operations, HVAC, water treatment, plumbing, boilers, and other technical facilities. The role involves supervising the Engineering team to ensure peak performance aligned with departmental goals and KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the efficient management of maintenance activities and energy usage, as well as the continuous development of the Engineering team. Key duties include:

Lead daily engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring adherence to service standards, work schedules, and maintenance plans.

Collaborate with Housekeeping to prioritize maintenance across guest rooms and public areas.

Design and enforce procedures that ensure the safety of guests, staff, and hotel property.

Liaise with relevant government agencies to maintain regulatory compliance.

Prepare annual budgets, including capital expenditures and maintenance estimates.

Create and execute preventive maintenance strategies.

Supervise and maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water treatment, refrigeration, lighting, elevators, generators, kitchen equipment, swimming pools, and other hotel facilities.

Conduct emergency lift release operations when needed.

Recommend and implement eco-friendly maintenance technologies.

Track departmental KPIs and implement corrective measures when necessary.

Manage team-related functions, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, career development, and staff motivation.

Ensure proper upkeep of all physical facilities to preserve quality and safety standards.

Maintain productive relationships with internal departments, vendors, and service providers.

Direct emergency response procedures for the hotel.

Develop and oversee energy conservation programs to control operational costs.

Manage renovation projects, including scope definition, cost analysis, supervision of contractors, and quality assurance.

Handle special technical projects and any additional duties assigned.
Candidate Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must possess the right expertise, attitude, and leadership qualities. Requirements include:

Advanced working knowledge of engineering/building management

Master’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline

Strong budgeting and basic accounting exposure

High professional grooming standards

Ability to work independently and under pressure

Previous experience in facilities management
