Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Microbiology Officer to lead microbiological quality control operations at our Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) facility in Sagamu.
- This role is responsible for overseeing microbiological testing activities and environmental monitoring programs to ensure full compliance with cGMP, internal quality systems, and regulatory expectations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee daily microbiological testing, including raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and water systems (PW/WFI).
- Supervise environmental and personnel monitoring in cleanrooms and other controlled environments.
- Investigate microbiological deviations, OOS results, and oversee implementation of CAPAs.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to microbiology supervisors and analysts.
- Monitor and manage inventory of microbiology lab supplies and consumables.
- Prepare technical reports for audits, inspections, and internal reviews.
- Collaborate with QA, Production, and Engineering to support compliance and continuous improvement.
- Review and approve microbiological test reports and ensure data integrity in all records.
- Lead qualification, validation, and trend analysis of microbiological methods and EM systems.
- Ensure adherence to WHO, NAFDAC, cGMP, and other regulatory guidelines.
Qualification & Experience
- B.Sc./M.Sc. in Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, or a related field.
- 4 – 6 years experience in pharmaceutical microbiology, preferably in OSD manufacturing.
- Proven leadership or coordination experience in microbiological quality control.
- Strong knowledge of microbial limit testing, water testing, cleanroom standards, and aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with pharmacopeial and regulatory standards (USP, BP, WHO, NAFDAC).
Key Competencies:
- Strong technical expertise in pharmaceutical microbiology and aseptic practices.
- Excellent documentation skills with a focus on data integrity and audit readiness.
- Proficient in LIMS, lab software, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Proven ability to lead teams and coordinate cross-functional quality activities.
- Sound judgment in investigations, CAPA implementation, and regulatory compliance.
