Job Summary

The Surveillance Detection Coordinator (SDC) reports directly to the Regional Security Officer (RSO) and provides daily oversight of the Surveillance Detection Program.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing timely analysis of notable security events.

  • Receiving, translating, analyzing, and inputting data into the Diplomatic Security Information Reporting (myDSIR) database.

  • Supervising one (1) SD Technician, three (3) SD Supervisors, and indirectly overseeing nine (9) SD Monitors.

  • Managing surveillance detection operations across the Embassy, Consulate, or other U.S. Government facilities and events, as directed by the RSO.


Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

  • Completion of secondary school (high school diploma or local equivalent) is required.

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of military, police, or private security experience (including six months investigative experience).

  • Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience is required.

Language:

  • Good working knowledge of English (speaking, reading, and writing).

  • Good working knowledge of Igbo, Yoruba, or Hausa is also required.

Job Knowledge:

  • General knowledge of surveillance techniques.

  • Familiarity with traffic patterns, pedestrian behavior, local facilities, and travel routes.

  • Knowledge of local law enforcement capabilities.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.

  • Must possess a valid Nigerian Driver’s License.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and hold a public trust security clearance.

  • May be subject to a background investigation and medical exam.

  • Must be available to start work within 6 weeks of receiving authorization/clearance.
