The Role: Assistant Business Development Manager
This is a dynamic, high-impact position within our Customer Business Development (CBD) function (Job ID: R-1167721). Reporting to the UI Senior BD Manager, your central purpose will be to identify, capture, and execute new market expansion opportunities (known as 'whitespace') and spearhead brand growth across Nigeria. You will be the force behind the successful launch of new products, establishing crucial routes-to-market in close collaboration with our distributor network.

Your Core Impact and Key Responsibilities
As the Assistant Business Development Manager, you will lead the entire growth lifecycle, which includes:
Market Prospecting and Strategy: Leading the mapping, development, and seeding of new business opportunities in Nigeria. This involves activating data and insights from idea conception right through to launch. You will rigorously screen and recommend potential businesses based on market analysis, deal requirements, potential, and deep financial analysis. A key part of this is conducting end-to-end market opportunity assessments with customers.
Partnership and Customer Management: Conducting comprehensive research and checks to identify and appoint suitable business distributors, and establishing robust launch networks through effective Stakeholder Management.
Launch and Execution Leadership: Developing and managing detailed business plans both internally and externally. You will craft comprehensive end-to-end launch plans to drive the route-to-market for New Product Development (NPD) and ensure alignment with the Supply Chain and Category teams.
Performance Tracking and Reporting: Managing and tracking key business metrics and KPIs across all marketing and trade activities, including ensuring optimal On-Shelf Availability (OSA) and Share of Shelf, alongside conducting broad-spectrum business reviews.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Leading and aligning cross-functional teams (Business Development, Finance, Supply Chain, and Marketing) and collaborating closely with external distributors and local Operating Companies (OpCos) to ensure project success and synergy.
Essential Requirements and Profile
To succeed in this role, you must possess the following:
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in Customer Development within the FMCG industry, preferably with experience in key account management and/or marketing.
Skills: Strong financial acumen and analytical skills are required, alongside excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills for engaging senior stakeholders.
Leadership and Environment: Proven experience in working and leading in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment (both virtually and face-to-face). Experience in international trade and capability building is also desirable.
Mindset: You must embody a high growth mindset, possess a strong passion for consumers, shoppers, and customers, and be strategic, highly adaptable, and entrepreneurial.
