Summary
- The Head of Talent Acquisition & Development, Africa will support the Africa business unit in achieving its objectives by ensuring that it has excellent, values-aligned employees and leaders in place to deliver the plan.
- This will be achieved through excellence in talent acquisition, talent management and succession planning, talent development (leadership, high potentials and early talents), training, learning and development, engagement and performance management.
- This role also leads Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Africa business unit, ensuring that PZ Cussons is attracting, retaining and developing a diverse range of talents who will bring new approaches and thinking to the team.
- The Head of TA & Development, Africa will also lead a small team of talent professionals and will report to the Global Talent & Diversity Director, with a strong dotted line to the People Director, Africa.
Responsibilities
Talent, Performance, L&D and Culture:
- Lead the execution of talent management, performance management, Leadership Development and Cultural development/engagement
- Delivers talent management in line with Global frameworks, processes and tools
- Development and execution of Talent Management strategies and processes across Africa, aligned with global direction and business requirements. Represent the Africa progress and requirements to the Global CoE
- Implements development diagnostic tools/assessments
- Ensures that Africa develops and maintains an excellent leadership pipeline by facilitating Talent reviews, Succession Planning at Africa level, coordinating and communicating with HR and the other Heads of Talent
- Develops, executes and manages talent acceleration and engagement programmes and initiatives, which may include Women in Leadership, programmes for HiPos, etc, aligned with the business and HR strategy
Talent Acquisition (TA):
- Develop and execute TA strategies aligned with business requirements
- Fulfil hiring requirements, manage end-to-end process: Sourcing, interviewing, psychometric tests, offer negotiations to closure
- Implement global TA policies and programmes
- Manage new employee induction and orientation on a timely basis
- Support the team to maintain a ‘direct sourcing’ mindset and fill as many leadership roles as possible through this process, and develop talent pipelines for leadership and critical roles
- Manage recruiting costs in line with business budgets, developing and maintaining Preferred Supplier Lists where required
- Based on the Global EVP, drive consistent candidate messaging in Africa through the use of social media and other channels
- Ensure that Hiring Managers are sufficiently trained in the hiring process and on how to create an inclusive and bias-free hiring experience
- Ensure an excellent candidate experience
Other responsibilities:
- Ensure that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is embedded within the talent lifecycle and that it becomes embedded in our thinking as a business
- Lead a team of Talent development and Talent Acquisition professionals, developing them to their full potential
- Represent the Talent functions at leadership forums when required, e.g. local and global PLT, business unit LT etc
- Custodian of the PZ Employer Brand across the Africa region
- Ensure that Talent engagement is a focus for leaders and manage the annual all-employee engagement survey
- In alignment with the other regions and the global CoE, develop data points which will demonstrate progress on a regular basis
Experience
- Deep experience within at least one of the Talent disciplines (Talent, Performance, L&D Culture and Talent Acquisition)
- Experience of working within a matrixed, global organisation
- Experience of the FMCG sector would be helpful
- Experience of leading and developing a team of professionals and subject matter experts.
- Experience of embedding DEI initiatives within Talent processes and programmes
- Experience of using HR and Talent platforms (PZ uses Workday)
