We are looking for an experienced and strategic thinker to join our team as a Data Scientist in Lagos.
The Opportunity: Data Scientist
This is a high-impact role where you will be instrumental in transforming vast quantities of transaction and platform data into actionable business intelligence. You will apply advanced data science methods to drive decision-making, enhance our products, and unlock new growth opportunities across Interswitch’s payment platforms.
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Your Purpose: Data-Driven Innovation
You will act as a strategic thought partner for cross-functional teams, leveraging big data to generate, evaluate, and implement data models and initiatives that optimize user experience, conversion, and overall profitability.
Key Responsibilities (Driving Insight and Growth)
Advanced Analytics & Modeling: Lead deep dive data science and data analysis to understand the key drivers of platform performance and customer behavior. You will assist in building and iteratively prototyping analysis pipelines, including developing algorithms and business models related to predictive analytics, customer segmentation, marketing attribution, and forecasting.
Business Translation & Product Development: Work cross-functionally to convert complex business needs into tangible data science solutions and innovative products. You will analyze Interswitch’s payment processing funnels to identify areas for improvement and leverage data to enhance our product offerings.
Data Quality and Architecture: Take ownership of data integrity by consulting with stakeholders on methods for streamlining and standardizing data recording. You will help build and maintain Interswitch’s robust data warehouse to support comprehensive reporting, analysis, and dimensional modeling.
Empowering Stakeholders: Actively implement improvements to Interswitch’s data pipeline (e.g., documentation, anomaly detection, alerting) to empower key internal stakeholders to access reliable, clean business data. You will interface with business functions, sharing clear, actionable insights derived from multiple data sources.
Strategic Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for data-driven product design, evangelizing insights on performance to help drive incremental gains in pipeline and revenue. You will conduct industry benchmarking to identify and implement the latest trends in Data Science, AI, and Machine Learning to optimize revenue and brand preference.
Mentorship and Support: Act as a mentor and coach to team members, fostering a culture of mutual respect and trust while assisting colleagues in leveraging internal communication systems effectively.
What You Bring
Education: A University First Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Analytical roles, preferably within financial or FinTech institutions, including at least 3 years dedicated to Data Science.
Mindset: A passion for resolving complex business challenges through statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
