We are looking for a procurement expert to serve as the Contract Advisor within our procurement function. You will be responsible for providing expert advice and comprehensive support on all contract-related matters, ensuring organizational policies, legal requirements, and best practices are strictly maintained.

Job Details: Your Contribution to Compliance and Risk Mitigation

You will play a crucial role in safeguarding the organization's interests by ensuring contractual clarity and legal soundness. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of contracts, including purchase orders, service agreements, licensing agreements, and construction contracts.

  • Cross-Functional Compliance: Liaising extensively with internal departments such as Finance, HSE, Compliance, and IT to ensure all contracts adhere to applicable laws and regulations.

  • Risk Mitigation: Actively identifying and addressing potential legal and commercial risks embedded within contracts.

  • Clarity and Protection: Ensuring all contracts are clear, concise, and legally sound, thereby protecting the organization's interests while minimizing overall risk.

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitoring contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, and building strong relationships with external suppliers and vendors to achieve this.

  • Change Management: Managing contract variations (variations in terms and scope, typically handled via Contract Change Management).

💡 Requirements: What Makes a Strong Candidate

We are looking for an experienced professional who can handle complexities and make strong, well-informed decisions.

  • Experience: 8 to 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain operations.

  • Decision Making: Demonstrated strong decision-making skills.

  • Analytical Capabilities: High level of analytical and problem-solving capabilities for effectively managing complexities and risks.

  • Technology Familiarity: Familiarity with modern supply chain technologies.

  • Certifications (Advantageous): Certification in any of the following will be a significant advantage:

    • The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)

    • Nigerian Institute of Purchasing and Supply (NIPS)

    • Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management (CISCM)

    • Six Sigma or other relevant procurement and supply chain certifications.
