In 1965, the Standard Bank of South Africa merged with the Bank of West Africa acquiring businesses including a banking operation in Nigeria, which dated back to 1894. The name was then changed to Standard Bank of West Africa. Four years after the merger, Standard Bank Nigeria was incorporated locally to take over the business in Nigeria.

Where you could work
You’ll be placed into one of the following teams:

  • Corporate Coverage: Partnering with top-tier multinational, local and middle-market clients to deliver tailored banking solutions – from cash management, and trade financing to lending, capital markets, and advisory services.
  • Financial Institutions Coverage: Partnering with a diverse client base across banking, insurance, asset management, public sector, and private equity. The team plays a key role in delivering solutions across financing, risk management, cash and securities, and investment strategies.

Roles

  • Our industry leading bankers will help you join one of the specialties below. As part of our assessment process, we help you learn more about the opportunities and determine which best suits your skills, attributes, and interests. Whichever route you take, you’ll gain hands-on experience and become an integral part of the team.
  • Assistant Relationship Managers support Senior Relationship Managers in the execution of deals, coordination between clients and product partners, and account planning and business approvals. Sales responsibilities will be assigned to you, and you'll work with multiple stakeholders to identify opportunities.
  • Credit Analysts assist Relationship Managers in managing risk, structuring deals, and monitoring existing clients. You’ll gain a deep understanding of our CIB products and how they are structured. You'll also conduct credit, financial, and industry risk analysis, as well as learn about environmental, sustainability, and reputational risk types and how we manage them.
