Position: Head of Purchasing
Amaiden Energy Nigeria Limited is enhancing its Contracts & Procurement leadership capacity and is searching for a seasoned purchasing leader to oversee strategic sourcing and procurement operations. The ideal candidate will champion cost optimization, maintain impeccable compliance standards, and ensure the highest levels of governance, safety, and operational excellence within a large-scale oil & gas environment.
Position Summary
The Head of Purchasing will supervise a team of buyers, enforce strict adherence to regulatory and company standards, drive sourcing efficiency, and secure cost savings across purchasing activities. This role requires significant expertise in managing complex procurement processes, contracts, vendor relationships, and purchasing systems in the oil & gas sector.
Core Responsibilities

Ensure full compliance of all procurement activities with company policies, TGP guidelines, anti-corruption laws, and applicable local/global regulations.

Lead and mentor a team of buyers across designated locations or business units.

Deliver measurable cost reductions through strategic sourcing, procurement best practices, and negotiation of frame agreements.

Review and approve Purchase Orders (POs) and Purchase Requisitions (PRs), ensuring accuracy in technical specifications, budgets, and authorization workflow.

Promote the effective use of SAP and digital sourcing tools for enhanced transparency and process efficiency.

Manage tendering processes, e-RFQs, vendor evaluations, negotiations—especially high-value and complex agreements—and oversee final contract awards.

Ensure correct application of Company General Terms & Conditions and manage documentation, contract archiving, and policy enforcement.

Monitor procurement timelines, expediting, supplier performance, invoice processing, and dispute resolution in collaboration with P2P teams.

Compile and present clear weekly and monthly procurement reports highlighting savings, KPIs, and departmental performance.

Initiate continuous improvements and strategic procurement enhancements in alignment with industry best practices.

Coordinate vendor performance reviews while collaborating closely with technical teams and Contracts & Procurement units.

Represent the department in high-level negotiations and ensure all contractual communications follow proper approval protocols.

Safeguard the company from commercial, legal, insurance, and contractual risks through proactive oversight.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related discipline (professional purchasing qualification is an added asset).

Professional procurement certification (CIPS, ISM, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

Minimum of 15 years progressive experience in purchasing/procurement within the international oil & gas industry.

Expert-level knowledge of procurement for oil & gas materials, services, and equipment.

Proven results in cost reduction, strategic sourcing, and managing frame agreements.

Advanced competence in SAP (MM module), e-sourcing platforms, and MS Office tools.

Demonstrated leadership experience managing procurement or buyer teams.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills with flawless English proficiency.

In-depth knowledge of JV/PSC environments, Nigerian content laws, and anti-bribery compliance requirements.
