Communications Associate – Retainer at UNOPS - Remote Job

Functional Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Manager of the Global Programme on Nature for Development, the Communications Associate will carry out the following tasks:
- Assist with identification of opportunities and approaches to strengthen visibility and outreach at national, regional, and global levels.
- Assist with ensuring communication deliverables meet donor visibility requirements and UNOPS guidelines.
- Assist the communication officer in drafting, editing, and quality control of communication materials, including web stories, newsletters, press releases, reports, and social media content.
- Assist the communication officer with the design and production of multimedia products (infographics, videos, photography) and ensure consistent messaging across platforms.
- Assist with coordination of communication inputs for events, workshops, and campaigns, including messaging, media engagement, and visibility materials.
- Serve as a focal point for communication queries and requests within the project.
- Track and report on communication outputs, visibility deliverables, and engagement metrics.
- Assist with update of knowledge management and communications databases, including media contacts, partners, and distribution lists.
- Identify and share best practices, trends, and innovations in communications to strengthen the programme’s outreach.
The contractor will be supervised by the Senior Technical Manager of the Global Programme on Nature for Development, and the contractor and supervisor will determine progress and next step in mutual communication.

Education
- Secondary school diploma (or high school equivalent) and six (6) years of relevant experience are required, OR;
- First-level university degree (undergraduate, bachelor, or equivalent), preferably in political science, communication, sustainable development, international relations, social development, arts, environmental science, and/or other fields relevant for the topics prioritized by the Global Programme on Nature for Development, with 2 years of experience is desirable, OR;
- Advanced university degree (master's or equivalent), preferably in political science, communication, sustainable development, international relations, social development, arts, environmental science, and/or other fields relevant for the topics prioritized by the Global Programme on Nature for Development with no relevant experience is desirable.
- Relevant experience is defined as experience working on at least one of the following topics at a conceptual and/or practical level: Communication, Sustainable Development, Biodiversity/Nature/Climate Change, Civil Society Engagement, Partnerships, Capacity Building.
- Fluency in English (read, write, speak) is required.
- Fluency in another UN languages is an advantage.
